FlytWERX was founded by Brian Chaney, an Air Force veteran, aviation technology leader, entrepreneur, and instrument-rated pilot.

Brian’s passion for aviation began with his first flight at age 12, when he first dreamed of becoming a pilot. He later built a career across aircraft maintenance, logistics, acquisition, information systems, and advanced aviation technology, including serving as Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Air Vehicles organization.

FlytWERX brings those experiences together by turning flight and simulator data into practical training insight. The platform helps pilots better understand their performance, supports more effective instructor debriefs, and gives flight schools greater visibility into student progress.

Who is FlytWERX for?

FlytWERX is built for student pilots, flight instructors, flight schools, and even flight sim enthusiasts that want a better way to review maneuvers, track progress, and make training decisions based on what actually happened in the flight.

Does FlytWERX tell me what to fix?

FlytWERX helps show where performance changed or drifted. As a student, your instructor uses that evidence to explain what to fix and how to improve it. As an instructor, FlytWERX gives you clearer data to support the debrief, spot patterns faster, and make the next rep more focused

Can FlytWERX help with IFR training today?

Yes. FlytWERX can already support IFR training by helping students build the aircraft control skills that matter most in instrument flying: altitude control, heading control, climbs, descents, level-offs, stabilized approaches, go-arounds, and configuration management.

Is FlytWERX building a full IFR training module?

Yes. A full IFR module is coming soon. Today, students and instructors can use FlytWERX for instrument-flying fundamentals, and the upcoming IFR module will expand support into more advanced instrument training workflows.

What will the IFR module add?

The IFR module is being designed to support more complete instrument training, including procedure-based practice, approach work, holding, intercepts, course tracking, and more detailed IFR debriefs.

Why use FlytWERX for IFR before the full module launches?

Because IFR success starts with basic aircraft control. Before a student can fly a clean approach, hold altitude during a clearance, or brief a procedure under pressure, they need to stop chasing the airplane. FlytWERX helps instructors and students see those patterns early.

What IFR skills can FlytWERX support right now?

FlytWERX can help students practice and review heading changes, altitude assignments, climbs, descents, level-offs, speed control, stabilized descents, go-arounds, and basic instrument flying profiles in the aircraft or simulator.

Can a CFII use FlytWERX today?

Yes. A CFII can use FlytWERX as a debrief tool during early IFR training. For example, the instructor can assign headings, altitudes, climbs, descents, and level-offs, then use the flight data to review timing, precision, and workload management.

Can FlytWERX be used in a simulator for IFR practice?
