Debriefing
Why Memory-Only Debriefs Miss Important Details
Memory is necessary in a flight debrief, but it is not a complete record of the flight. A student remembers what was noticed and understood in real time. An instructor remembers the events that demanded attention, intervention, or explanation. Neither perspective automatically preserves the exact sequence, size, duration, or relationship of every deviation. A stronger debrief combines memory with instructor observation, the applicable standard, written context, and correctly interpreted flight data.
